Comprehensive safety solutions
Safety is our top priority. Our AGVs are designed to meet the highest standards and fully comply with applicable regulations for both personal and machine safety.
One major advantage of AGV systems is their higher level of safety compared to manual material handling. In Europe, AGV safety is governed by EN ISO 3691-4, which defines safety requirements for driverless industrial trucks and their systems to protect people, goods, and infrastructure. The standard provides guidelines for vehicle design, control and safety systems, and the operating environment – covering both movement and load handling to ensure an acceptable level of residual risk throughout the system’s lifecycle.
Safety requirements during movement
Our AGVs fulfil Performance Level D (PLd) for safe monitoring during movement. Each AGV is equipped with a certified safety controller which continuously monitors the vehicle’s position, speed, and direction, while sensors and/or laser scanners detect objects within the surveillance field. If an object is detected, the integrated safety system automatically brings the vehicle to a safe stop.
Laser scanners are positioned at a low height to detect people within the collision-critical area surrounding the AGV. The vehicles can also be equipped with contact bumpers at floor level to protect nearby personnel at low speeds, or to reduce the risk of injury from moving parts—for example on AGVs with lifting tables.
Visual and audible alerts to reduce risk
To increase awareness of approaching vehicles, AGVs are equipped with flashing lights and may also feature BlueLine and/or BlueSpot safety indicators, as well as complementary audible alarms.
